About

Lyman & Brown Leather Goods is owned and operated by me, Linda Lyman Brown.  I first started designing at the young age of 11, when my parents bought me an antique “White” treadle sewing machine for my birthday. I was hooked!  Over the years I’ve continued to explore design and fabrication.  I studied fashion design at Montana State University, and later costume design at the University of Utah.  I’ve worked professionally as a designer for the theatre in both costuming and puppetry.

It’s often been my habit to make holiday gifts for my family.  One recent Christmas I decided to create passport holders for my family made from my husband’s old leather bomber jacket.  I loved hand-stitching the worn supple leather and haven’t turned back since.  My current line of leather goods has evolved out of my search to create fine-crafted leather goods sewn by hand using the finest full-grain oil-tanned leather.  My leather is sourced from US tanneries and distributors.

I call it slow fashion.  Each item is designed, cut, and sewn by hand.  This process does take time, but in the end, you are left with a product that will naturally condition and develop a delicious patina for years to come.
